New Bedford Academy
About Our School
In February 2000, New Bedford Academy moved into a newly constructed facility at 6315 Secor Road. The site includes 25 wooded acres with wetlands for outdoor learning experiences. The site also includes a playground area adjacent to the school building. A gymnasium (with storage and meeting rooms) has been added to the original school building - and staff and students began using the gymnasium in September 2001.
New Bedford Academy is Chartered by Ferris State University - and, since its inception, the Board of Directors has contracted with Helicon Associates, Inc., to provide highly qualified staff who fulfill the educational goals of New Bedford Academy.
New Bedford Academy is committed to the concept of diversity. In this ever-changing world, students need to learn and experience cultures that are different from their own. They need to read, think, express themselves and be constructive members of society.
Through the utilization of educational strategies such as team-teaching, cooperative learning, multiage grouping, and a focus on the application of technology to further enhance individualized learning, the students will be provided with a discovery-rich environment.
Students are encouraged to make choices and learn how to evaluate their work and their behavior.
